For those that have not heard we at Carbessentials and Physicians Plan Weight Management Medical Clinic have been doing a unique fund raiser for a very special person in the Redding California Community.
Jared Smith a husband, father of two boys, and a Physician Assistant for Shasta Orthopedics here in Redding broke his neck on July 4th, 2010. It was a horrible accident that has altered his life in many ways.

What we did for the last 4 weeks (28 days) is for every pound a patient lost we would donate a dollar.
Below is the letter that we have sent to Jared and his family in celebration of the donation that we just deposited electronically into North Valley Bank.
Dear Jared-
As you may have heard or read our office has been doing a fundraiser on your behalf. When Dominique and I heard about your accident we knew we wanted to do something.
We decided to match patients weight loss over the course of a month as well as have donations accepted. So for every pound a patient lost we would donate a dollar! In 28 days we had 3,839 pounds lost in our clinics. We had such success with weight loss and patients were so kind with donations. It was amazing for Dominique and I to see how kind and giving people are that have no connection to you especially in our satellite offices. We had 2 patients in particular that were so touched with your story. One of the women from our Chico office donated $200.00. Another patient from the Yreka office came in on the anniversary of her 2 sons deaths (they died in a car accident together) she shared that story with our staff and proceeded to tell them on the anniversary she likes to do something and she chose to donate a $100.00 that day. Her story was so heart felt by all the staff. It is amazing the trials we face each day never knowing that there are people facing so many more than us.
I know so many people have said this to you already but there is a reason for everything and what we do in times of adversity makes us who we are. We are delighted to send you and your family a check in the amount of $5000.00. Please let me know if there is anything we can do.
